Clamp System

The EKF Clamp System enables physicians to regulate blood glucose at a defined level and to document the data for both clinical use and scientific studies.

The system consists of an EKF Biosen C-Line analyser which accurately measures the blood glucose concentration (CV <1.5%), BBraun insulin and glucose infusion pumps and an advanced medical PC with bespoke easy-to-use software which automatically calculates the optimal infusion rates, manages and processs data, and documents results. 

The Clamp System has been designed to fit within the confines of patient treatment rooms and the entire system is housed within a portable, tiered trolley allowing easy access around hospital rooms or research facilities. Clamp also has a number of integrated patient safety functions including infusion rate overrides and alarms. 

There are a wide range of applications within clinical research and advanced diagnostics for the Clamp System. These include the measurement of insulin resistance and insulin requirements and the development of new diabetes treatment strategies.

And, following a number of recent reports on the impact of glucose management on patient outcomes, a number of potential critical care applications are being considered.
