The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children is a health and nutrition program with a successful record of improving the diets of infants, children, and pregnant, postpartum, and breastfeeding women at risk for nutrition-related illness. The primary focus of WIC is educating mothers about proper nutrition for babies and young children.
WIC’s annual conference, the Texas WIC Nutrition & Breastfeeding Conference, promotes best practices in the field and provides continuing education. Among the nearly 600 WIC community members who attended the conference were representatives from the WIC state agency, administrators, and staff from local WIC agencies and clinics across Texas.
